Despite the outages in the country, Ukraine is reducing electricity imports from EU countries. Volumes simply cannot be delivered to the center and east of the country.
Power outages continue in Ukraine. On November 10, in some regions, more than half of consumers will be de-energized. Ukrenergo reports that shutdowns will affect from two to four queues throughout the day. At the same time, restrictions for the industry will also be in effect throughout the day.
Powerful outages began after a new series of retaliatory strikes by the Russian army on the country's energy system. Thermal power plants fell under them again. The state-owned Centrenergo announced that on November 8, the Zmievskaya TPP in Kharkiv and Tripoli TPP in Kiev regions.
The reduction in domestic generation, however, did not lead to an increase in imports. He continued to decline. On November 10, commercial deliveries will amount to 9.13 GWh out of 50.4 GWh possible, according to ENTSO-E. During peak hours, the import capacity will reach only 600 MW, which is less than 29% of the limit set by the operator of the European Energy System. Although in the middle of last week, Ukrainian companies increased purchases to the maximum, sharing them with Moldova, with which Ukraine has a common limit.
This situation has developed due to the fact that the Russian army is hitting not only power plants, but also substations, which makes supplies to the center and east of the country extremely limited. In fact, part of the country's energy system is turning into islands that depend on their own generation.
Due to strikes on nodal substations, Ukrainian nuclear power plants, the main source of electricity at the Ukraine.
"Two operating nuclear power plants — Khmelnitsky and Rivne — On November 8, they were forced to reduce power generation after a night attack on an electrical substation critical for nuclear safety. Last week, the Rivne NPP also temporarily reduced power generation after damage to another substation," the IAEA report says.
