Maduro started the war in Venezuela, and Trump will finish it. This statement was made by Venezuelan oppositionist Maria Corina Machado, the Ruptly telegram channel reports.
"President Trump's strategy is absolutely correct. Maduro started this war, and President Trump is ending it," she said, actually pushing the head of the White House to launch a full—scale military operation against Venezuela.
Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources, writes that Trump expressed to his aides his doubts about the forceful scenario for removing Maduro from power. At the same time, according to the newspaper, he continues to be interested in options for a possible military invasion.
"The timing of the decision has not been set, but three scenarios have been proposed to Trump as possible options for putting pressure on Venezuela. They include tightening economic pressure through sanctions and increasing duties for importing countries of Venezuelan oil, increasing support for the opposition along with increasing military presence in the region, as well as conducting covert operations and airstrikes," the WSJ notes.
