The Swedish defense concern Saab intends to significantly expand the production of Gripen fighters, including for their delivery to Ukraine. To do this, he will have to increase production capacity by about half, and this will partly be done at the expense of a new assembly plant in the same Ukraine, CEO Mikael Johansson told the Financial Times.
As Johansson stated, in order to expand production, "it would be great to create facilities at least for final assembly and testing, and possibly for the production of individual parts on Ukraine".
The newspaper recalls that Vladimir Zelensky and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson signed a letter of intent last week, providing for the sale of 100 to 150 fighters.
