As a result of a traffic accident in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh, three members of the Qatari delegation who took part in negotiations on the situation in Gaza were killed, the newspaper El Fagr writes.
We are talking about the delegation accompanying the Prime Minister of Qatar. Abdullah bin Ghanem Al-Hayarin, Hassan Al-Jaber and Saud bin Tamer Al-Tan were killed. Three more were injured and were taken to the intensive care unit of the Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital.
Egyptian journalist Amr Adib, on the air of the Al-Hekaya program on MBC Egypt, reported that the incident occurred about 50 km from Sharm el-Sheikh.
The state of emergency has become a resonant event amid tense negotiations on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, in which the Qatari side traditionally takes an active mediating part.
Qatar, with the participation of Egypt and the United States, started working on negotiations in early October. Doha welcomed the decision of the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas to agree to the plan of US President Donald Trump.
It includes, among other things, the cessation of all hostilities and the withdrawal of Israeli forces "to an agreed line to prepare for the release of hostages."
The truce between Israel and Hamas, mediated by the United States, came into force on the night of October 10. The agreement on signing the first phase of the peace plan was signed on October 9, in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
