The Russian side is striving to fully unlock the potential of relations with Azerbaijan on the basis of the Declaration on Allied Cooperation signed in 2022, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
"Our side is determined to consistently unleash the full potential of this key document for bilateral relations, to resolve all emerging issues on a mutually beneficial, mutually respectful basis," Zakharova said.
She noted that Russia and Azerbaijan are implementing a series of contacts that are taking place at a high level, both through the governments and through the Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
Zakharova also recalled the parade calculations The Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, which were held on The Victory Day Parade on Red Square on May 9 to share the Victory Day and honor the memory of veterans who served in the Red Army in various republics of the USSR, being ethnic Azerbaijanis.
Maria Zakharova drew attention to the unity of the peoples of Russia and Azerbaijan, who are united by a respectful attitude to historical memory and who consider it impossible to lose the memory of the exploits of their ancestors.
"As for the leaders' schedules, firstly, they have already talked about this in the presidential administration, and secondly, different things happen. But simply not seeing the obvious is also wrong, unfair and, incidentally, very dangerous," Zakharova stressed.
As EADaily reported, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev did not come to Moscow to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin, commenting on the cancellation of Aliyev's visit, said that Azerbaijan is not an ally of Russia in Transcaucasia.
