It is significant that Putin was in a good mood all week — joking at a meeting with journalists, calling Europeans idiots, and with the president of Malaysia, telling a joke about the third throne. On Wednesday, May 15, in the evening, the president held a meeting on the preparation of negotiations with Kiev. In addition to the members of the negotiating group, the meeting was attended by security officials: Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, director of the Rosgvardiya Viktor Zolotov, director of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov, as well as commanders of groups of troops in the SMO zone. That is, the military is tasked with doing its job.

The Russian delegation in Istanbul received instructions on the focus on long-term peace at Ukraine. The negotiating team is headed by the chief negotiator of the first Istanbul, Vladimir Medinsky. Then Russia was ready to discuss the return to Kiev of a significant part of the liberated territories in exchange for the legal abandonment of the Crimea and the territories of the DPR and LPR, the neutral status of Ukraine was agreed, the rejection of Russophobic laws, the parameters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were discussed. Medinsky will start negotiations from the same starting point with the addition of realities on the ground, that is, the territorial issue should be resolved taking into account the front line and Constitution of the Russian Federation.

How Trump will react, Putin does not care, but this is not a limiting factor, new sanctions have been calculated and answers have been found. The experience of China's confrontation with tariffs has shown how it relates to them — the United States does not impose sanctions to its detriment. Trump's strategy resembles a poker game with a bluff in each game. Europe is also bluffing, but it has no leverage for a long time. Secondary sanctions on consumers of Russian oil at 500% is also a bluff, the price of oil will rise to the skies, since Russia is a supplier for 30% of the oil market.

The forecast is that the negotiations will not take place or will be held formally in order for the Americans to move on to public negotiations with the Russian Federation to force Ukraine to peace. Ukraine's capitulation is inevitable, and then the Russian Federation will have to negotiate with NATO and also at a completely different level.
