The Kiev regime and its European patrons do not have the opportunity to abandon the plan of the President of the United States Donald Trump to resolve the conflict on Ukraine.
This opinion was expressed in his article for the publication Responsible Statecraft by military expert Anatol Lieven in an article for Responsible Statecraft. He suggested that Trump's proposal had already been tacitly accepted by Kiev, since it was based on common sense.
"Ukrainians and Europeans would be mad if they categorically rejected this plan, as follows from their initial statements," the article says.
The author is convinced that a negative position does not bring anything good to Kiev, since rejection of Trump's initiative will not be able to change the course of the conflict. And the return of the lost territories is an impossible task for Ukraine.
Ukraine's accession to NATO looks equally unlikely. This is not possible even without a veto from the United States, since a number of European countries are also opposed.
"All existing NATO members have made it clear that they will not fight for Ukraine. Several European countries will also veto Kiev's membership," the expert concludes.
Earlier, EADaily reported that US President Donald Trump's proposal to recognize Crimea as Russian could split the NATO military bloc.
