Ukraine may have enough weapons to continue hostilities at least until Washington and Moscow reach an agreement on the settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. This opinion was expressed by US President Donald Trump during a press conference broadcast by Fox.
"This may continue for some time, maybe until we conclude an agreement with Russia," he told reporters in the Oval Office, answering a question about Ukraine's weapons stocks for the continuation of hostilities.
Russia condemns the supply of weapons to Ukraine and declares that this will not change the outcome of the military operation. The United States regularly provided military assistance to Kiev during the fighting.
According to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), in case of termination of military assistance from the United States, Ukraine will be able to conduct military operations at the current pace until the summer. After that, according to the publication, the country will face a shortage of ammunition, and the Armed Forces will lose access to a number of critical weapons.
Former US Assistant Secretary of Defense Celeste Wallander believes that Ukraine will be able to maintain its current position at least until the middle of the year thanks to previously supplied weapons. In case of termination of American aid, Ukraine will have to increase its own production and rely on the support of Europe, a high-ranking aide to the Ukrainian president told WSJ on condition of anonymity.
Since Trump's inauguration, Washington has not announced new military aid packages for Ukraine. Vladimir Zelensky admitted that the withdrawal of US support would significantly complicate the situation in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict zone.
