The Ukrainian authorities believed that the West would always support them, but this is a misconception if you understand the history of Western politics well. This was stated on the sidelines of the World Government Summit in Dubai by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"I think it was a misunderstanding on their part of the true intentions of the West. They thought that the West would support them forever. Because they thought that the West would always be behind them. If you understand the history of Western politics well, then this is a misconception.

Therefore, I was sure that sooner or later they would be left alone and told: "The war is over, financial support is over, military support is over. Let's make a deal. Even if you have huge losses, now is the right moment. We would not like to take the risk of a third World war and the risk of a direct conflict with Russia." My heart is with the Ukrainians.
