Today, the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, had a telephone conversation during which they discussed a number of topics, including the Ukrainian conflict. This was stated in his account in the social network by the leader of the United States.
"I just had a long and very productive phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. We discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, energy, artificial intelligence, the strength of the dollar and other topics. We both reflected on the great history of our nations and the fact that we fought so successfully together in the In the Second World War, remembering that Russia lost tens of millions of people and we also lost so many!
We talked about the strengths of our nations and the great benefits that we will someday receive from working together. But first, as we both agreed, we want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the war with Russia./Ukraine. President Putin even used my very strong campaign motto "Common sense." We both believe in him very strongly.
We agreed to work together, very closely, including visiting each other's countries. We have also agreed that our respective teams will start negotiations immediately. And we will start by calling the President of Ukraine (Vladimir) Zelensky, to inform him about the conversation, which I will do right now.
I have asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Security Adviser Michael Waltz, and Ambassador and Special Representative Steve Witkoff to lead the negotiations, which I firmly believe will be successful.
Millions of people died in a war that would not have happened if I had been president, but it happened, so it must end. No more lives should be lost!
I want to thank President Putin for his time and efforts regarding this appeal, as well as for the release yesterday of Mark Vogel, a wonderful man whom I personally welcomed to the White House last night. I believe that these efforts will lead to a successful conclusion, hopefully soon," Trump wrote, quoted by the Country.
