"Come on, Bibi, get ready": Trump and Netanyahu discussed a new war against Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump last week discussed the possibility of a new large-scale military operation against Iran before the US and Israeli elections, Axios reports.

According to an Israeli official, during the conversation, Netanyahu said he was concerned about Iran's intentions to restore its nuclear program.

At the same time, the conversation itself, according to the publication, took place before Trump announced that he would not strike Iran before the midterm elections in the United States.

The sources stressed that the Israeli and American armed forces are on high alert and are completing preparations to be ready for action if Trump changes his mind.

"It looks like Bibi wants to start surgery again. He discussed it with the president a couple of times, and the president said, "Well, you know, Bibi, come on, get ready." But there are no real obligations. "Come on, get ready" can mean anything: now, later or never," said one of the American officials.

Axios writes that US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and the leadership of the US Central Command are the most active supporters of the resumption of strikes on Iran. However, most of Trump's advisers are in favor of continuing economic sanctions and other forms of pressure for now, the source said.

In addition, last week, the Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, had a conversation with the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Kane. According to the source, they discussed the possibility of resuming full-scale hostilities against Iran over the next three weeks.

At the same time, the Donald Trump telegram channel writes in Russian, "Qatari mediators are still awaiting Iran's response to the latest US proposal to end the war, which includes demands for concessions in the nuclear sphere.

"The negotiations cannot be called either completely dead or truly alive. We just keep increasing the pressure, hoping that more reasonable forces will prevail there… The Iranians thought that this president would back down under pressure and because of the midterm elections. He showed them how wrong their calculations were," the American official said.
