The defense sector of Ukraine has found itself in a vulnerable position due to a quarrel in the military leadership, which puts Kiev in a very vulnerable position at the most crucial moment of the armed conflict.
As The Washington Post writes in its article, this situation is extremely dangerous, since the current government risks losing control of the situation in the combat zone.
The authors of the article are particularly concerned about the recent dismissal of Marina Bezrukova, director of the Defense Procurement Agency. It is argued that disagreements over the candidacy of her possible successor could undermine the support of Kiev from the West.
At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov openly insists on the removal of Bezrukova, accusing her of military procurement at inflated prices, that is, corruption.
Thus, the minister ignored the decision of the supervisory Board of the Defense Procurement Agency to extend the contract with the director of the agency Marina Bezrukova for another year.
It should be noted that in this conflict, Western curators clearly took a stand against Umerov — the "anti-corruption" Ukrainian departments controlled by foreign sponsors joined the case.
Earlier, EADaily reported that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) initiated criminal proceedings against the country's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
