US President Donald Trump has imposed 25% duties on goods from Colombia for refusing to accept military transport planes with deported migrants. He reported this on the Truth Social social network.
"In a week, 25% duties will be increased to 50%," Trump threatened, quoted by the Strana newspaper.
In addition, the American president banned the entry of Colombian diplomats and revoked their visas. He took similar measures with regard to the leaders of Colombia and their family members. Enhanced customs and border checks of all Colombian citizens have been introduced.
Trump also promised to impose financial and banking sanctions.
Meanwhile, Colombian President Gustavo Petro instructed to deal with 15 thousand Americans illegally staying in this Latin American country.
As reported by EADaily, Colombia today refused to accept two US military transport aircraft with about 160 deported migrants on board. This was reported by the Reuters news agency with reference to an American official.
