Syrian militants said they had begun to enter the capital Damascus, according to the telegram channel of the united command of the opposition and Islamists Al-Fatah al-Mubin.
The shooting in Damascus is reported by Reuters and AFP, citing local residents. CNN and Al Jazeera report that there is "chaos" at the Damascus airport. With reference to the Syrian Human Rights Monitoring Center, AFP reports that government officers and soldiers have left the capital's airport.
Syrian radio Sham FM reports that the Damascus airport stopped working after all employees left their jobs.
"All employees of the international airport have been evacuated, its work has been completely stopped," the radio said.
Al Jazeera reports that opposition forces have occupied the Public Radio and Television building in the center of the Syrian capital, and government army soldiers are leaving it.
