Militarily, Russia is invincible. This was stated by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Astana, Sputnik reports.
According to the Kazakh leader, Germany is one of the main European and even global partners for the republic.
"We attach great importance to our very intensive and multifaceted cooperation. We will do everything possible to further deepen and strengthen mutual ties," he said.
At the request of the guest during the meeting, Tokayev spoke about the Ukrainian crisis.
"The fact is that Russia is invincible militarily. Further escalation of the war will lead to irreparable consequences for all mankind. And first of all for all countries directly involved in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Unfortunately, a good chance to achieve at least a truce was missed with the refusal to conclude the Istanbul agreement," the head of Kazakhstan said.
However, Tokayev added, the opportunity to achieve peace still exists.
"It is necessary to carefully consider all peace initiatives of various states and come to a decision to stop military operations, and then move on to discussing territorial issues," the Kazakh leader further said.
He expressed support for China's peace plan and Brazil.
"Heads of state come and go, and peoples, especially neighboring peoples, should live in peace and mutual understanding. With Russia, Kazakhstan has the longest delimited land border in the world. Cooperation is developing between our countries within the framework of strategic partnership and alliance," Tokayev stressed.
