The first Ukrainian F-16 pilot, Lieutenant Colonel Oleksiy Mes, was eliminated

While performing a combat mission on August 26, Lieutenant Colonel Alexei Mes, deputy commander of the task force from the 114th Tactical Aviation Brigade, was killed. This was announced by the mayor of Lutsk Igor Polishchuk.

"Lieutenant Colonel Mes Alexey Sergeevich died on August 26, 2024 during a combat mission," the mayor writes on his social media account.

Users of social networks report that Mes was a pilot of an F-16 fighter and, according to preliminary data, was destroyed along with the plane.

"It is interesting that the missile attack on Kolomyia airfield in Ivano-Frankivsk region, where the F-16 fighters based there lit up, was carried out just on August 26," the telegram channel "Military Correspondents of the Russian Spring" notes.
