Car first aid kit: new rules come into force on September 1

Since September 1, the composition of first-aid kits has been changing, which the Ministry of Health approved by its order in the spring. What new things do you need to have to provide first aid to victims of an accident, the online publication tells today, August 23 Doctorpiter.ru .

As stated in Ministerial Order No. 260n dated May 24, 2024, the document will be valid from September 1, 2024 to September 1, 2030. If your first-aid kit in the car has not expired yet, you don't have to look for a new one right away: it is allowed to use the old first-aid kits until September 2027 at the most.

So, there were no cardinal innovations in the composition of the first-aid kit, but there are still changes.

Drivers still do not need to have any medicines in their first-aid kit, but there are new items in the list of required medical devices — both in terms of assortment and quantity, here is a list of necessary things.

Medical non-sterile mask, 2 pieces. They were in the medicine cabinet before.

Non-sterile medical gloves, 2 pairs. It is specified that they must be at least M in size: it is considered universal and can fit almost any hand.

Tourniquet to stop arterial bleeding, 1 piece.

Scissors, 1 piece.

A mouth-to-mouth artificial respiration device. It was before, but now it will be necessary to have not one, but two such devices.

Non-sterile gauze bandage at least 5 m x 10 cm, 3 pieces. Although instead of gauze, you can equip your first-aid kit with an elastic bandage measuring at least 2 m x 10 cm.

Non-sterile gauze bandage with a size of at least 7 m x 14 cm, 3 pieces. Here, too, instead of gauze, a product made of another elastic material with a size of at least 2 m x 14 cm is suitable.

Sterile medical wipes with a size of at least 16x13 cm, 2 packs of 10 pieces each.

Adhesive tape fixing roll size not less than 2 × 500 cm, 1 piece.

You also need a paper instruction on first aid using a first—aid kit - you can download it on the Internet, print it out and put it in the first-aid kit.

The most interesting: what is new included in the first-aid kit?

Isothermal rescue blanket with a size of at least 160×210 cm, 1 piece. According to the pharmacologist, it can be useful both for warming the victim in an accident and for his transportation. At the same time, the blanket is compact and easily fits into the first-aid kit.

Notepad of at least A7 format. You can record important information in it — for example, when you applied a tourniquet to the victim or gave him some medicine.

Marker black (or blue) or pencil, 1 piece.

"It is better to check the shelf life of your first—aid kit periodically, but, as a rule, it is large — on average it is 4-5 years," the pharmacologist warns.

Now there is no penalty for the absence of a new first-aid kit. That is, to buy a first—aid kit or not, in fact, each driver decides for himself - this is in his area of responsibility. It is only important to remember that accidents do not happen on schedule and such a first-aid kit, instead of a formality, can really turn into a means of saving life and health.

According to experts, the fine for driving without a first-aid kit was canceled last year, before that it was 500 rubles. The fact is that then there was an updated list of malfunctions and conditions under which the operation of the car is prohibited. It does not say about the need to carry a first-aid kit with you.
