Japan considers Russia's imposition of sanctions against Japanese citizens absolutely unacceptable, and therefore protested to the Russian side, Secretary General of the Japanese government Yoshimasa Hayashi said during a press conference.
"Such measures restrict the legitimate activities of Japanese companies and are absolutely unacceptable. The Russian side explained that these are retaliatory measures to the sanctions imposed by Japan, but the measures taken by Japan are caused by Russia's invasion of the Ukraine, which is a clear violation of international laws," he stressed.
