In the current crop year, grain exports from Russia to China for the first time exceeded 1 million tons, the Rosselkhoznadzor statement says today, May 17.
According to the "Argus-Fito" system, from July 1, 2017 to May 15, 2018, the Chinese market supplied 1.23 million tons of grain. A year ago, the supply volume was half as much. In general, following the results of the current crop year, which will end on June 30, the Ministry of Agriculture expects grain exports from Russia at the level of 52 million tons.
China buys in Russia soybeans, rape seeds, wheat and corn. In addition, supplies of buckwheat, flax seeds, sunflower seeds and oats have recently begun. At the same time, China ranks 13th in the list of the largest importers of Russian grain, and in the near future may enter the top ten, the Rosselkhoznadzor predicts.
For three years, the volume of grain exports to China has increased 18 times. Deliveries of grain to China are not allowed from all regions of Russia and the Rosselkhoznadzor is constantly negotiating to expand this list. In addition, work is currently under way to admit Russian barley, millet, sorghum, soybean meal, and grain products to the Chinese market.
