Ceasefire to be declared in Donbass for New Year holidays

On December 15 in Minsk, the Contact Group on settlement of the conflict in Donbass agreed on ceasefire for the period of New Year holidays, said Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“New arrangements for de-mining have been achieved. The proposal to establish a full ceasefire for the period of New Year and Christmas holidays was supported too,” Zakharova said. In her words, the Contact Group will meet one more time till the end of the year.

The Tripartite Contact Group met in Minsk on December 15. Later, representatives of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics joined the meeting. The subgroup for the security of the Contact Group has determined 12 areas for demining.
