Russia’s air operation in Syria is financed by Russian sources only, the Russian President’s Spokesmen Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Oct 1.
Peskov refrained from commenting on the operation. He said that Russia is coordinating its strikes with the armed forces of Syria. According to Peskov, the operation will last as long as the Syrian army will continue its offensive.
As EADaily reported earlier, Russia decided to help Syria following a request by the country’s President Bashar al-Assad. The Federation Council approved the decision. According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, on Sept 30 Russian planes struck eight ISIL facilities in Syria, including arms depots, command points, communications centers and vehicles. Oct 1 night the Russians struck ISIL positions in the provinces of Idlib, Hama and Homs and destroyed a headquarters and an arms depot near Idlib, a command point near Hama and an explosives factory in Homs.
