Trust in the authorities has fallen in Moldova and it is difficult to counteract this. This statement was made by the President of the Republic Maia Sandu at the Moldova Security Forum with the participation of representatives of NATO, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and other international organizations in Chisinau today, October 8.
"Trust in the institutions of power and democratic processes is declining, and this generally undermines trust in society. I am afraid that we do not have enough resources to effectively counteract this," Sandu said at the forum.
As EADaily reported, against the background of the continuing impoverishment of the population, the Sandu regime is trying to retain power through repression against any dissent. Criminal cases are being opened against opposition politicians, "suspicious" people are being detained at the Chisinau airport, and the head of Gagauzia, Yevgenia Hutsul, has been sentenced to seven years in prison on trumped-up charges. Media outlets disloyal to the regime are also closed.
