Iran has attacked an oil refinery in Haifa. This is reported by iran.ru .
The main tank with gasoline was completely destroyed during the attack. The internal power plant, which supplied the enterprise with steam and electricity, failed. Shrapnel damaged gas turbines, steam boilers and control rooms.
The attack seriously damaged about 60% of Israel's oil refining production facilities. This led to a sharp shortage of gasoline. The problem was solved by increasing imports and maximizing production at the Ashdod refinery.
To speed up the repair work, the authorities allowed them to be carried out without complying with standard environmental and building regulations. Now full recovery is expected no earlier than 2028. The real extent of the damage became apparent only after the Haifa administration and environmental groups expressed dissatisfaction with the disregard of supervisory requirements. This has led to speculation that Israel may be underestimating the impact of other Iranian attacks on key infrastructure facilities.
In a leak from the Israeli Interior Ministry, information appears that in order to speed up repairs, the authorities were temporarily allowed to depart from some environmental and construction standards.
