In Balashikha, Moscow region, in the Aviators microdistrict, a driver with the rank of lieutenant general was killed as a result of an explosion with an IED of a BMW X3 car.

"The deceased was a military man with the rank of lieutenant general. At the same time, he lived in Balashikha, in an area full of migrants, drove only a BMW X3. According to EADaily, according to investigators, on June 9, 2026, at about 5:30 a.m., an explosive device was detonated while driving a BMW X3 car near a residential apartment building on Koldunovo Street in the Aviators microdistrict of Balashikha. As a result, the driver of the car received multiple injuries, from which he died at the scene. A criminal case has been opened.

Everything happened at the moment when the 62-year-old driver just got into the car and began to drive away. The man managed to pull out alive from the burning car, but he died. Parked cars were also damaged as a result of the explosion.

Information is being spread in public that the Aviators' microdistrict in Balashikha was originally built as a residential area for military personnel. The first stage of houses commissioned in 2011-2013, including the house on Koldunov Street, 10 (2011), was distributed by the Department of Housing of the Ministry of Defense among military pensioners, combat veterans, families of pilots, cosmonauts and submariners from all over the country.

In the same area of Balashikha, less than 1 km from the site of the current explosion, in April 2025, Lieutenant-General Yaroslav Moskalik, deputy chief of the General Staff, was killed by an explosion of an improvised device.
