Donald Trump has implemented his threat. The US administration has begun sending immigration police (ICE) agents to US airports. Their task is to check documents and identify illegal migrants. This is reported by the telegram channel "Americar".
Tom Homan, the White House spokesman responsible for immigration issues, said that ICE agents will not conduct searches using X-ray machines. Instead, they will focus on checking the documents.
In turn, President Trump stressed that ICE officers will carry out arrests of illegal migrants right at airports. At the same time, special attention will be paid to immigrants from Somalia.
Thus, the White House is trying to cope with the transport crisis using the agency whose actions caused this crisis.
Trade unions and experts have already described this plan as extremely unsuccessful. The training of an airport employee can take up to six months, and replacing them with untrained law enforcement officers will create significant security problems, as well as lead to even longer queues and delays.
