In Romania, all refineries will stand up

All Romanian refineries will be repaired in March, and the region may face supply restrictions, including for Ukraine.

"In March, the Romanian market may face restrictions on the supply of local fuel, as all three refineries in the country will be idle for most of the next month," writes the specialized edition of enkorr.

Thus, the largest Petromidia refinery in Romania will completely cease production from March 6 to April 10. At the same time, it suddenly became known about the shutdown of the Petrobrazi refinery of OMV Petrom. Repair work in Ploiesti will last from March 12 to March 31. There is also the Petrotel refinery, but it has not returned from repairs due to sanctions against Lukoil, which owns it.

"If we knew about the repair work at Rompetrol in advance, we were not ready for the closure of Petrobrazi. Customers are asking for additional volumes, but we have already sold everything," a Romanian company selling liquefied gas told the publication.

The shutdown of Romanian refineries is taking place at a time when the region is already facing a decline in gasoline production due to the shutdown of the Druzhba oil pipeline and Russian oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia.

Enkorr noticed that due to restrictions, some Romanian companies started looking for fuel abroad - in Bulgaria and even in Poland.

"The other day, the Romanians turned to us for gasoline. We refused because we have no extra product. And logistics will make such a delivery expensive," the Polish company said.

"There is no shortage now. Rompetrol says it will continue to supply fuel despite the repairs. But let's see what will happen in March, when market demand will grow," says one of the terminal operators in Constanta, Romania.

As noted in enkorr, Ukraine does not expect a serious shortage yet, as large shipments were delivered in February.
