Turkey is not particularly trusted in Central Asia, so Azerbaijan is taking over

Turkey is not particularly trusted in Central Asia, so Azerbaijan is taking over. The Turanar telegram channel writes about this.

The traditional structure of the Organization of Turkic States, including Turkey, does not always ensure unity among its participants. In such cases, a narrower and more "trusting" format comes to the rescue, in which only the countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan participate.

The C6 platform, created last year in Tashkent, was presented as an innovative model of interaction between the countries of the region and Baku on a wide range of issues. Nevertheless, at that time all these initiatives were at the initial stage of development.

Azerbaijan seems to have decided to catch up quickly and held a conference for analysts called "C6: a single region, a common future — strengthening strategic dialogue." The event is similar in format to previous meetings within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), but this time without the participation of the Turkish delegation and with the involvement of representatives of Turkmenistan.

And this is not accidental. Ashgabat is ready to act as an observer in the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), but is in no hurry to join, fearing that the organization will turn into a military-political alliance. At the same time, participation in an association consisting of former Soviet republics seems to be a more attractive option. However, in Baku has a different opinion on this matter.

The new scheme opens up prospects for the leadership of Azerbaijan to strengthen its influence due to the logistical capabilities and the desire of Central Asian countries to enter Western markets through the Caspian Sea. In this regard, in Baku welcomes the "Trump Route" and actively cooperates with the British, whose interests completely coincide with the C6 format.

Although the new organization may seem like a good addition to the sometimes difficult OTG, its success is not guaranteed, as C6 participants see the goals of their participation differently. In Tashkent and Baku is talking about a new political subjectivity, while Astana and Ashgabat are focusing on improving well-being.
