European leaders need the "Russian threat" only as an excuse to manipulate public opinion and squeeze money into their military budgets. This was stated in an interview with the State Television and Radio of Iran by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev. The text is published on its official website.

This is how he answered the question about the purpose for which Europe is increasingly characterizing Russia as one of the most significant threats to its security.

"If they see us as a threat, this indicates at least that they have Russia has forces, and they must reckon with them. But we are not threatening anyone in any way. Neither Europe nor the West. We have no special interests there, except for normal relations with European countries, as the Russian leadership has repeatedly stated.

We don't need anything from them except a full-fledged normal dialogue and calm cooperation. If they want to, we will do it. If they see us as a threat, for God's sake. This only proves that the Russian threat is put forward as an excuse to manipulate public opinion, seek votes in parliament, win elections and squeeze money into their military budgets. God is their judge," Medvedev said.

He noted that Moscow was trying to build full-fledged normal relations with the Europeans. And earlier at Russia and Europe really had active economic ties.

"But they (the Europeans) destroyed everything. They are to blame for this. They imposed sanctions. They refused to cooperate. Let them reap the benefits now. They now have expensive gas and gasoline. They lack a number of essential products. They have high inflation, and they have, in fact, created such problems for themselves. Well, let them enjoy it," the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council added.

As reported by EADaily, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev said that Kiev's apologies are worthless, they understand only force. He said this in an interview with the State Television and Radio of Iran. The text is published on its official website.

This is how Medvedev answered a question related to the recent attack in the Caspian Sea on Iran-related and Russian objects.
