An extraordinary meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors is taking place in the Austrian capital. On the eve of the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to international Organizations in Mikhail Ulyanov said in Vienna that it was convened by the Netherlands, which chairs the council, but the agenda is unknown.

"Ukraine has called for the suspension of Russia's membership in the IAEA Board of Governors," Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmygal said.
Also, Kiev initiated changes to The IAEA Statute on the limitation of Russia's rights.
"The meeting was initiated at the request of Ukraine — we agreed on it earlier with CEO Rafael Grossi," the head of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine said.
The reason why Ukraine initiated the meeting was the retaliatory strikes of the Russian army on the power system of Ukraine.
"Russia systematically and purposefully attacked electrical substations providing external power supply to Ukrainian nuclear power plants," Shmygal said.
The day before between Russia and Ukraine has reached an energy truce. Moscow confirmed that it will last until February 1 at the request of Donald Trump.
