Former CIA counterintelligence officer Aldrich Ames, sentenced to life on charges of collaborating with Moscow, died in an American prison, RIA Novosti found out.
"He died on January 5, 2026," the US Department of Prisons said in a response to a request about prisoner Ames.
Aldrich was sentenced in 1994 to life in prison on charges of espionage in favor of the USSR and Russia.
He worked for the CIA for more than 30 years, of which he allegedly collaborated with Moscow for more than nine years.
