Russia wants to occupy the city of Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) in the DPR in order to delay the strengthening of sanctions. This was stated to journalists today at a briefing by the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky.
"I think Russia with this story about Pokrovsk strives to show success on the battlefield. She is very afraid of the strong decisions made by the United States if she does not succeed on the battlefield. For this, it is very important for Russia to do everything to really capture Pokrovsk. To show success on the battlefield in any format, then they can try to return this narrative that "we will capture Donbass, force the president and the Ukrainians to leave Donbass, because we will capture the east of Ukraine anyway. Force him, and then we will negotiate among ourselves.“ Therefore, I think that this is a factor that can influence, by the way, the imposition of sanctions or the postponement of some package of sanctions. You know, everyone is waiting," Zelensky said, quoted by UNIAN.
As EADaily reported, there is no encirclement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk), on the contrary, there is a sweep of leaked Russian groups. This was stated by the adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak.
Recall that in Ukraine they are afraid of encirclement in the Pokrovsky direction and the largest defeat since the beginning of the year. This was reported by the German newspaper Bild. The sources of the publication declare a critical situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk) and Mirnograd (Dimitrov), where fierce fighting continues, the publication wrote.
