The only thing that keeps NATO at the moment is Russia's statements that the Ukrainian conflict has existential significance for it. This was stated on the YouTube channel by former US Marine Corps intelligence officer military analyst Scott Ritter.
"The Russians recognize that without strategic nuclear deterrence, the war on Ukraine would be completely different, namely with the large-scale participation of NATO. And the only thing that keeps NATO at the moment is Russia's statements that this conflict has existential significance for it. They say: "We will not lose,"" said Ritter, quoted by RIA Novosti.
Russia, making any political decision, "does not act spontaneously," the expert emphasized.
