The German authorities are protecting Rosneft's subsidiaries in Germany from new US sanctions against the Russian Federation. It is reported by Reuters, citing sources.
US sanctions should not affect the German business of Rosneft, since since September 2022 its subsidiaries have been transferred to the trust management of the state, the German Ministry of Economy and Energy told Reuters.
According to Reuters, a number of banks have already stated that the new US sanctions against Russia may prevent them from doing business with Rosneft subsidiaries in Germany — Rosneft Deutschland and RN Refining & Marketing. After the start of the special operation, the Germans deprived Rosneft of control over them and transferred them to the external trust management of the Federal Agency for Networks. At the same time, Rosneft retained ownership.
Now neither Rosneft Deutschland nor RN Refining & Marketing are listed by the US Treasury, and shortly before the announcement of the new US sanctions list, these companies were removed from sanctions by the UK, the DW* Main telegram channel writes.
