The chairman of the Party of Socialists of Moldova, one of the leaders of the Patriotic Electoral Bloc, Igor Dodon announced a demonstration on September 29 in front of the parliament building. This is reported by the regional correspondent of EADaily.
Dodon gathers supporters at 12.00 to "defend the victory of the opposition" in today's parliamentary elections, which he does not doubt.
"Voter activity is now somewhat lower than it was last year in the presidential elections. Nevertheless, it is already clear that the opposition will win. But President Maia Sandu made it clear that the election results could be annulled, as happened in Romania. Therefore, I urge everyone to take part in a rally at the parliament building tomorrow at 12.00 to defend our victory," Dodon said.
The ex-president added that today's voting day is extremely important for the Republic of Moldova. He personally voted "for a return to normalcy, for the cessation of fear."
"People are afraid. It should be the opposite — the authorities should be afraid of the people. It is obvious that the opposition will win," Dodon stressed.
Answering a question from journalists about the alleged, according to Maia Sandu, massive Russian interference in the parliamentary elections in Moldova, the politician noted that "the interference was from the West."
"We have seen this interference through all sorts of foundations, through Soros and non-governmental organizations that intimidated people. We think this is wrong, we stand for good relations with the East and the West," Igor Dodon concluded.
As EADaily reported, earlier Dodon explained tomorrow's protest with two goals. First, it is necessary to protect the victory of the opposition, "so that they (the current government) would not think of canceling the elections." The second goal is to demand their cancellation if it becomes obvious that the elections were grossly rigged.
