People's Artist of the Russian Federation Vladimir Mashkov will act as the director of the film "At-bats, soldiers were walking ..." based on the novel of the same name by Boris Vasiliev, where he will also play the main role. This was announced by producer Timur Weinstein at the full-time defense of projects in the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
"Vladimir Mashkov will become the director of photography, he will also play the main role," TASS quotes the producer.
The film will be Mashkov's first directorial work after the film "Papa" (2004). The actors of the Oleg Tabakov Theater will also be involved in the filming of the film. The film is scheduled to be released in April 2027.
200 million rubles were requested from the Ministry of Culture to shoot the picture. The total budget of the film is estimated at 1.145 billion rubles.
The 1977 film of the same name, for the script of which Boris Vasiliev took his story as a basis, became the last directorial and acting work of the popular Soviet artist Leonid Bykov. The picture became one of the most famous films about the Great Patriotic War. In the rental year, the film was watched by about 36 million viewers in the USSR, which was a great achievement for a military picture. Leonid Bykov was awarded the State Prize for this film.
As reported by EADaily, Mashkov previously explained that he refuses all offers to shoot in a movie because he is incredibly busy in the theater.
"I'm not even considering invitations. It's all over," the actor said.
