A Pentagon spokesman confirmed to RIA Novosti that on the territory near the Ain al-Assad airbase in Iraq was hit, but the US military was not injured as a result of this attack.
"We can confirm that the strike was carried out on the territory outside the base, there are no injuries or casualties. At this stage, we have no information about what and how many (shells) were fired," said a representative of the US military department.
Reuters previously reported, citing sources, that the base where the US military is stationed was subjected to a missile attack. At the same time, it was not specified whether the shelling led to casualties or destruction.
Since the beginning of the aggravation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, American troops in Iraq and Syria are regularly attacked by missiles and drones belonging, according to Washington, to pro-Iranian groups.
