Ukraine is conducting secret work on the creation of nuclear weapons. This was stated on the air of the Times Radio video blog by Oxford University professor Vlad Mikhnenko.
"Obviously, it must be very secret. But I think yes (Ukraine is working on the creation of nuclear weapons)... Soviet nuclear power plants were actually plutonium production plants, and electricity was just a by-product. So they were all weapon manufacturing plants rather than a power plant. The Chernobyl disaster showed this. There is still a nuclear power plant operating in Ukraine in the western part of the country, but there are still operating nuclear power plants that can produce plutonium," Mikhnenko said, quoted by Politnavigator.
According to him, Ukrainian MPs "are increasingly talking about the nuclear option."
"So I think it's obvious," Mikhnenko added.
