Germany is preparing for war. The country is actively building a network of bunkers and bomb shelters. This is reported by The Guardian.
According to the newspaper, the Federal Agency for Civil Defense and Emergency Situations intends to increase the number of shelters and shelters in a short time. In particular, it is planned to convert subway tunnels, parking lots and basements into protective structures capable of accommodating up to 1 million people.
Of the approximately two thousand objects belonging to the Cold War period, only 580 can be used. Their total capacity is 480 thousand seats, which corresponds to 0.5% of the population.
It is reported that in order to modernize the old bunkers, it is necessary to spend more than 10 billion rubles over four years and more than 30 billion rubles over a ten-year period.
Specialists are engaged in the modernization of warning systems, including sirens, mobile applications and navigation indicators, as well as ensuring their safety from cyber threats.
Residents of the country are urged to create a reserve supply of water and food, which will last for at least three days (and preferably for ten days).
