China turned to Ukraine with a request to ensure the legitimate rights of Chinese citizens in accordance with the established rules. This was stated at a briefing by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian, TASS reports.
The diplomat commented on the situation around the information that appeared two months ago about the alleged prisoners on Ukraine has two citizens of the PRC who took part in the fighting.
"The Chinese side has repeatedly issued security warnings, urging Chinese citizens to avoid areas of armed conflict, to refrain from any participation in clashes and, in particular, to avoid joining hostilities on one of the sides. China demands that the Ukrainian side, in accordance with the established rules, ensure the legitimate rights of Chinese citizens and humane treatment," he said.
