The Russian Defense Ministry announced today the creation of a security strip in the Sumy region of Ukraine. This is reported by the telegram channel "DW * main".

"The creation of a "security strip" on the territory of the border areas of the Sumy region of Ukraine continues," the department said in a statement.

It is noted that earlier the Ministry of Defense did not use this term, although it reported on the fighting in the Sumy region, where it is displacing the AFU grouping from under the Court in the Kursk region.

"Judging by the maps of the Ukrainian Deep State project for May 2, several border villages of Sumy region are now under Russian control: Basovka, Novenke, Zhuravka, Veselovka. At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold part of the border territory of the Russian Federation in Kursk region," writes TK.

In early April, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, said that the Russian Armed Forces were actively advancing in the Sumy region. As of today, "independent experts do not record an active offensive by the Russian Federation in the region," the TC summarizes.
