The US has driven China into isolation — Bessent

The United States managed to drive China into isolation with its tariff policy. This was stated on the air of the Fox Business channel by the head of the US Treasury, Scott Bessent.

"Our allies, Japan, South Korea and India - they are all around China. Vietnam is coming [to the USA] today. Everyone sits down at the negotiating table, and, in fact, China remains isolated," said Bessent, quoted by Rossiya—1 presenter Olga Skabeeva.

"Under (Joe) Biden, they talked about Russia like that," Skabeeva comments on the picture of the day.

As reported by EADaily, the United States hopes to negotiate with China, but will not back down from discussing tariffs, Finance Minister Scott Bessent said today in response to a new tariff increase by the Chinese side. In an interview with Fox Business, a member of Donald Trump's administration, who is also tasked with negotiating tariffs, said that China can only lose if it resorts to retaliatory tactics against US tariffs.

Earlier this week, the Chinese government said it would increase customs duties on goods coming from The United States, from 34 to 84%, the minister said. Beijing's decision was a response to the fact that as of Wednesday, the United States increased tariffs on Chinese goods by a total of 104%.
