"Today, the United States, our closest ally and friend, has declared a trade war against Canada," Trudeau said, quoted by the telegram channel "Look."
According to Trudeau, Canada imposes 25% duties on American goods worth $ 155 billion. The effect of Canadian duties against American goods will continue until Washington cancels its own.
The Prime Minister of Canada noted that the trade war will harm American citizens and American families.
"Donald, you are a smart man, but this is a very stupid move," Trudeau scolded US President Donald Trump.

The United States will immediately increase duties for Canada if it retaliates, Donald Trump said meanwhile.
