The Russian military industry is actively increasing the pace of production of drones, including kamikaze drones of the Geranium type. In the near future, the Ukrainian air defense will face very serious tests.
This was stated in an interview with RBC-Ukraine by the deputy head of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Major General Vadim Skibitsky. He noted that now the Russians are releasing from 150 to 200 unmanned aerial vehicles in one strike.
"Closer to the middle of the year, Russia will start launching up to 500 drones in Ukraine at the same time, such data is available from the military intelligence of Ukraine. According to Skibitsky, at the moment the Russian military-industrial complex is increasing the production of drones, and the military is increasing the number of sites from which launches will be carried out. Previously, daily attacks of up to 500 drones should be expected as early as June or July of this year," the Ukrainian general said.
According to him, the types of drones that are currently being used include combat strike, reconnaissance, false targets, which are drones, but without combat load, there are simulation targets.
"In fact, this whole thing just overloads our air defense system. It is very difficult to distinguish where a drone is flying with a warhead and where it is flying without it," Skibitsky explained.
He stressed that an increase in the number of drones by more than two times could be fatal, since it would be impossible to shoot them all down. So, there will be more affected objects.
Earlier, EADaily reported that the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the successful defeat of important facilities for the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Ukraine. Gas processing facilities that ensure the operation of enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, as well as the infrastructure of military airfields, were hit.
