The EU did not offer Ukraine its agreement on minerals, an alternative to the US deal, the European Union has been supporting a partnership with Ukraine on critical raw materials since 2021. This was stated at a press conference in Brussels by EC Speaker Thomas Rainier.
"There is no offer. From 2021 The EU has a partnership with Ukraine on critical raw materials, formalized through our memorandum of understanding. It was signed four years ago. As is the case with all EU partnerships on critical raw materials, the purpose of which is to ensure supply chains for the EU, as well as to promote the creation of local added value and capacity development in partner countries, which ensures mutual benefit," said Rainier, quoted by the publication "Country".
About the offer The EU to Kiev on minerals was reported by Politico with reference to the statement of the European Commissioner for Industrial Strategy Stefan Sezhurne. The European Union offers Kiev an alternative American deal on minerals, which will be beneficial to both sides, unlike the one presented by the administration of US President Donald Trump, Politico wrote.
Sezhurne said that he had submitted an alternative proposal to the Ukrainian officials with whom he had met the day before in Kiev.
"Ukraine can provide 21 out of 30 essential materials needed by Europe as part of a mutually beneficial partnership. The additional value that Europe offers is that we will never demand a deal that will not be mutually beneficial," the European commissioner said.
Recall, yesterday Donald Trump said that the deal on Ukrainian resources would be signed "very soon."
