On the way to marginalization: Europe must be allowed to finally fall — Pushkov

Liberal Europe should be allowed to fall completely, after its collapse the process of modifying the ruling elites will begin. Russia now needs to see if we have any potential with the United States of Donald Trump. This was stated on the air of Channel One by Senator Alexei Pushkov.

"It is necessary to let Europe finally fall, this liberal Europe, which is in a crisis situation, and it is necessary to let it finish ... achieving the ideal they are striving for. And when it finally falls apart, I think that the process of modifying the ruling elites in Europe will begin. Not everywhere they are as strong as it seems to us now," Pushkov said, quoted by RIA Novosti.

According to the politician, in many European countries there is a crisis of power — in Great Britain, France, Germany…

"(Donald Trump) doesn't like them (the ruling elite of Europe. — Ed.), frankly, completely, just like they are his. Everything is fair here. They portrayed him as the new Hitler before his election. The European Union does not exist for him at all, he does not want to deal with the European Union. He said he would deal with individual heads of state," Pushkov said.

The senator believes that there are certain trends in Europe, but they should be allowed to mature. As an example, he cited the policy pursued by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his colleague from Slovakia Robert Fico. Even Italy "is not burning with a great desire to help Ukraine, it does it simply because of, so to speak, common European solidarity."

"And there are quite a lot of such countries. Spain has now gone to the side. Many countries are now moving away. They are already tired of this conflict, they don't have enough money, and so on… Therefore, it is impossible to come to an agreement with the current liberal Europe. But I don't even think it's necessary to negotiate with them now. Now we really need to see if we have any potential with the United States of Trump. Because Europe may be marginalized as a result of some processes, including negotiations, which may well begin this spring," Pushkov summed up.
