German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock in an interview published in the Politico podcast "Berlin Playbook" criticized Chancellor Olaf Scholz for indecision in providing additional assistance to Kiev. This is reported by the telegram channel "Bild in Russian".
Annalena Berbok criticized Scholz's restraint in approving additional military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of three billion euros, without mentioning the Federal Chancellor directly.
"To be honest, it hurts me that for some politicians the question of how to quickly get a few votes in the Bundestag elections is more important than the responsibility for ensuring peace and freedom in Europe," Berbok said.
Responsible policy means not changing the position depending on the pre-election circumstances, she noted.
As EADaily reported, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz blocked a new package of military assistance for Ukraine, which was promoted by Foreign and Defense ministers Annalena Berbok and Boris Pistorius. This was reported on January 9 by Der Spiegel.
It was clarified that the ministers wanted to provide new assistance to Kiev in the amount of € 3 billion before the Bundestag elections scheduled for February 23.
