"Europe is preparing for a new life at an even greater distance from the United States than at any time since 1941. The big picture is clear: if President-elect Donald Trump keeps his promise to work with Vladimir Putin to resolve the Ukrainian issue, the future of NATO and Western collective security will be bleak."
