London does not allow the APU to hit Kursk with its Storm Shadow — is it thinking about Poseidon?

London does not allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to hit the Kursk region with Storm Shadow cruise missiles, writes the British The Telegraph. Why are such notorious Russophobes not giving the go-ahead to Kiev? Does Kiev need to ask permission at all? To these questions Pravda.Ru A military expert, Doctor of Military Sciences, Major General Vyacheslav Kruglov answered.

— Why, in principle, London, which has not been distinguished by friendly statements addressed to us in the last two years, did not give the go-ahead to Kiev for such a step?

— The Americans gave the go-ahead, the UK did not. This suggests, perhaps, that there is some kind of political game going on here, because they can officially announce: "We did not allow it," then Ukraine will apply, and then the British will throw up their hands and say: "We have something to do with it, we did not allow it." And here, in general, there is a big, big geopolitical and military game going on. Therefore, it is not necessary to accept any statements as an axiom. Although, perhaps, some aspects, so to speak, are related to the fact that the new government in the UK, maybe right away, cannot and does not want to make such a serious decision regarding Ukraine. Maybe they need to "warm up" for a start, too, so to speak, especially since they themselves have such domestic political problems there now. Or maybe they don't want to give some other kind of heat-up, they don't want to give a reason, suddenly it's something else that can strengthen the internal confrontation. In general, there is a big game here. And what really is — I think you and I can only intuitively guess, we can't know everything.

— Does Kiev even need to ask permission from others about this, since they went to such an escalation?

— When weapons are transferred, the parties agree among themselves what is possible and what is not. You can't hit peaceful, for example, cities, or something else, that is, there are always some restrictions. Or, for example, it should not be used close to the line of combat contact, so as not to let this technique down, otherwise it will suddenly be captured. That is, there are a lot of such nuances. Therefore, it seems that Kiev and London also had some kind of agreement. Although I personally consider it all, so to speak, a "big game" in which there is more misinformation than information.

— That is, officially they have to ask permission, as it were, how to use this weapon?

— This means that they must act as it was written in the agreement, what was the agreement during the transfer. If there was an agreement that it is necessary to coordinate, then it is necessary to coordinate. And if there was no such thing, for example, "do whatever you want," as the Germans say: "The weapon is already Ukrainian," or the French: "It's not ours, and what they do, we are not responsible." The British may be deeper players, or maybe something scared them a little there, because at one time some measures were taken on our part regarding this, so to speak, island, and somewhere, maybe, some closed-nature warnings at the diplomatic level were. That is, everything is very layered.

As EADaily reported, in April 2023, the Belgorod nuclear submarine, which is the carrier of the Poseidon nuclear submarine drone of strategic importance, joined the Russian Navy. In the West, where the Russian torpedo was nicknamed the "Doomsday weapon", they are very afraid of it, because initially no one believed in the existence of an underwater vehicle with a nuclear charge. Many called it the "horror stories" of President Vladimir Putin, but now the British media are increasingly talking about a radioactive tsunami more than 300 meters high that could destroy Britain.
