President of Russia Vladimir Putin is ready to meet with U.S. leader Donald Trump, Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov told RIA Novosti.
In particular, Lavrov said Donald Trump invited Vladimir Putin to the United States during a phone call and said he would be glad to see Putin in the White House. Trump returned to the subject of an invitation a couple of times during a phone call with Putin. Trump told Putin he would be happy to make a reciprocal visit to Russia, the RIA news agency quotes Lavrov as saying.
Answering a question whether organization of the meeting of the two leaders stalled, Lavrov said that the Russian leader is ready for the meeting, but it is not being prepared yet.
“We will keep you updated as soon as there is any development in this issue. I’d like to draw your attention to the fact that after the phone talk, Donald Trump several times said and left tweets saying that issues with Russia shall be settled and they seek good relations with Russia, it is better than not having good relations, and only a fool thinks differently. We do hear all this,” the foreign minister said.
