Azerbaijani president calls to impose sanctions on Armenia

Azerbaijan is a victim of the Armenian aggression and occupation; the Armenian side does not want to release “occupied Azerbaijani territories – Nagorno-Karabakh and seven districts adjacent to it.” The Armenian Armed Forces must be immediately withdrawn from the occupied territories, Azerbaijanis must return to their homes. These are the main ideas of the speech delivered by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the opening ceremony of the 6th Global Baku Forum on March 15.

According to the Azerbaijani leader, the Karabakh conflict must be resolved within frameworks of the UN Security Council resolutions, norms of the international law and territorial integrity.

At the same time, Aliyev called the international community to impose sanctions upon Armenia.

“The conflict is not only the biggest injustice in the current history, it is a source of constant tension and instability in the region. So, as soon as we get this conflict solved on the basis of norms and principles of the international law, the UN Security Council resolutions and Helsinki Final Act, peace will come to the region,” Ilham Aliyev said.
